Sheltering Sea

Award-winning Macedonian choreographer and Director of the Croatian National Theatre Split Ballet presents his new dance staging in the framework of the HERITART Festival, an international project developed within the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

Sheltering Sea

Through the dance amplitudes performed by five dancers of different cultural heritage, Kirov wanted to show what connects us - the language of movement, dance and music is a universal means of communication and understanding, while the symbol of sea becomes a meeting place, a place of spiritual recognition, of a common historical and cultural habitat. The play invites us to reject prejudices, celebrate differences and recognize all that connects us on an emotional and human level. Magical location of the Roman amphitheater dated from the 2nd Century BC is not a random choice - it turns the attention towards the rich cultural heritage of this area and suggests that it’s our duty to preserve and enrich it.
