The story of Johann Christian Woyzeck, a soldier who, out of jealousy, murders the widow he lives with, is partially based on real events and people. Composed of fragments and notes, Büchner's drama remained unfinished due to the author's early death. Although Büchner wrote only a few plays, his impact on changing paradigms within dramatic literature is significant. Director Borut Šeparović will focus in his interpretation of the play on the issues of the relativization of general armament, the (un)acceptability of armed violence and the militarization of society, as well as the eternally painful topic of femicide. Šeparović, the founder of Montažstroj, is known for his productions of intense rhythm and powerful, authentic work, so Woyzeck will be equally engaging for fans of German classics and younger audiences, who will enjoy the interpretation with numerous references to contemporary times and trends.
