An original project by Ivan Plazibat, Petra Pleše, Olivera Baljak, Aleksandra Stojaković Olenjuk, Jelena Lopatić, Deni Sanković, Ana Marija Brđanović, and Romina Tonković.
The play When We Fall in Love is a story that, through a family gathering, simultaneously speaks to us about love, its rights, prejudices, tolerance, and hatred. The project explores whether a segment of the population (60+) has the right to new love, passion, and a fresh start. It seems that in theater, and by extension in society, this possibility has been erased and thus forbidden for that age group. The cast, led by national drama champion Olivera Baljak, will tell their story in this production.
The play "When We Fall in Love" is about what kind of narratives are allowed. In these parts of the world, society often dictates to the individual what sort of destiny is predetermined for them—whether based on gender, ethnicity, class, or social status. For our heroine in this story, Lara, we’ve imposed yet another invisible boundary—age. People in their later years are often perceived as simply going through the final act, the third act of their life drama, but unlike in theater, there is no great drama in this third act. We wanted to have our Lara, who is full of life and drama at that age, and a play that ultimately uses the theme of the right to love to speak about the right to choice.
