Tonči Petrasov Marović (Mravince near Split, 1934 - Split, 1991) is one of the most important poets, dramatists and essayists of the recent Croatian literature. His poetry developed separately from poetic trends of his time. Language and homeland with an immanent awareness of time and space are fundamental topoi of his poetry. He produced 20, mostly poetry, books, and will be remembered as the first among Croatian poets to publish haiku.
