Venatus / Migrations

A fusion of two neoclassical ballets to the music of Szymon Brzosko and Kirill Richter premieres at Sustipan on Tuesday, July 20th.

Venatus / Migrations

Venatus is Aaron Kok’s first creation. With music by Szymon Brzóska this non-conceptual, neo-classical ballet is divided into 4 short movements. “Venatus” is a different take on the traditional “white ballet” which includes a pas de deux, solo, and corps de ballet finale, this time only the decor and costumes are minimal to showcase the physicality and musicality of the dancers.

Migrations
Where do we fit into society? How do we conform to the routines and cultures of our environment? These are the questions that hoped to be visually achieved with the ballet Migrations. Taken from his own experiences, this ballet is an exploration of the stories and challenges people go through when migrating within different societies and new environments. Through movement, Aaron creates these images that reflect what it’s like being different than those around us, and the willingness to conform with them.
With the beautiful score by Kirill Richter this neo-classical ballet is dynamic and a force unto itself, raising the question in the end - is it better to be individual or just like everyone else?
