Trpimir Jurkić, a theater, film, and television actor, writer, and director, the leading actor of the Drama Department of the National Theatre in Split, was born in Split in 1963.
He has been active since the mid-eighties as an actor at the City Youth Theater in Split (formerly known as the Children's Theater of Tito's Sailors). He enrolled in the Academy of Dramatic Art in 1989 and became an actor at the National Theatre in Split in 1993. In his many years of work, he has played over a hundred theatrical roles in classical and modern repertoire, from ancient drama to recent titles of contemporary drama, as well as about twenty film and television roles.
From 2014 to 2018, he was the director of the Drama Department of CNT Split and the president of the Branch of the Croatian Writers' Association in Split.
In addition to acting, he is involved in writing and directing, collaborating with both professional and amateur theaters. He is the artistic director of KUU Mosor from Gata. He has written three dramatic texts: The Good Samaritan, Cain and Abel, and Insignificant Stories, two of which were performed on the stages of the City Youth Theater and CNT Split (1999 and 2003). Both plays were staged at the Croatian Drama Festival "Marulićevi dani." He directed the plays Heart Larger Than Hands at Play Drama Theater, as well as Small Conjugal Crimes and Ol smo za jedan dan at the National Theatre in Split.
For his artistic work, he has received numerous awards:
- Four Marul Awards at the Croatian Drama Festival "Marulićevi dani"
- Marin Držić Award for best new dramatic text
- Twice awarded the Marko Fotez Award for artistic achievement in the Drama Department of CNT Split
- The Golden Laughter Award at the Days of Satire
- Special Jury Award at the International Actor's Festival in Nikšić
- Twice awarded the Judita Award at the Split Summer Festival
- Three-time nominee and two-time winner of the Croatian Theatre Award
- Fabijan Šovagović Award for the best acting performance at the Actor's Festival in Vinkovci
- Twice nominated for the Dubravko Dujšin Award
For a period, he also wrote columns on an internet portal, and in 2021, his first book of notes, columns, essays, and stories was published under the title "You Can't Choose Less Painful Hours."
