The Hole

The Hole is said to be "a confessional, bittersweet story about human characters, Mediterranean mentality where neighbour on neighbour knows more than about themselves; it is about characters who love, hate, poke, bribe, and cannot be without each other. Their words speak louder than their actions, their weaknesses make you laugh and it becomes contagious, because through laughter we want to forgive ourselves for similar flaws ...”

The Hole

Živko Jeličić, an exceptionally important Split and Croatian writer of the second half of the 20th century, firstly wrote The Hole in the form of farce and later as a script for a TV movie (1988) brilliantly directed by Vanča Kljaković and superbly performed by Ivica Vidović and Špiro Guberina

This is the third staging of The Hole at the Split Summer Festival, this year for the first time on the Carrara Square. This ideal and favourite stage of the Mediterranean folk theatre, one of the traditional trademarks of this Festival, has again been reinstated in the list of Split Summer Festival ambient stages after a long-time break.
