The captivating voice of altist Sonja Runje is hailed as one of today's most beautiful Baroque voices. Born in Split, she is internationally recognized for her agile and warm vocal timbre, as well as her virtuosic technique. In a special collaboration, Sonja Runje will grace the Split audience with a joint performance alongside Edin Karamazov, a virtuoso of classical guitar and Baroque lute. As a multi-instrumentalist, Karamazov has collaborated with some of the world's most esteemed musicians, including Andreas Scholl, Maria-Cristina Kiehr, and Arianna Savall. However, it was his remarkable collaboration with Sting that garnered significant attention, resulting in the album "Songs from the Labyrinth." Their inspired rendition of John Dowland's Renaissance compositions sparked a renewed interest in the baroque instrument, the lute, among a global audience.
In the splendid setting of the Vestibule of Diocletian's Palace, Sonja Runje and Karamazov will perform a selection of John Dowland's compositions during the "Made in Silence" concert. Known primarily for his melancholic works, Dowland's repertoire continues to be a source of inspiration for classical guitarists and lutenists to this day. Join us on Sunday, July 16th, at 9 PM for an evening of enchanting Renaissance melodies and masterful performances by these exceptional artists.
