Staging a Play: Tartuffe

After successful performances accompanied by positive reactions of the audience in Zagreb, Svetvinčent and Pula, Staging a Play: Tartuffe, stage performance by choreographer and director Matija Ferlin, produced and performed by Zagreb Dance Company, will be presented in Split as well. Ferlin's Tartuffe is the second performance in the Staging a Play cycle within which the author is confronted with the canonical names of dramatic art, and questions the very basis upon which the concept of staging is interpreted in a dramatic discourse.

Staging a Play: Tartuffe

In this case, one of the world’s most famous comedies, Molière’s Tartuffe, has been innovatively translated by Ferlin into the language of dance: verbal replicas are replaced by a physical vocabulary, while dramatic text is used as choreographic score, thus creating a complex stage game whereby the body in motion does not try to reach the level of verbal communication, but enables a new dimension of theatre staging and envelopes the spectator into the magical atmosphere of musical and visual stimuli.
