Now and Never Again

Now and Never Again

4NEVER
There is a secure feeling with the expectation and assurance of a continuum repetition of cycles, for example the 4 seasons each year. Yet a year is precious time passing us by that we will never get back. Set it in an (exibition like) white panoramic box, featuring two pedestals who each, majestically present entities associated to each cycle. Protected behind blurred glass, emphasizing preciousness and conservation. Yet, glass remains fragile… I want to celebrate this fragile presence in this uncertain room, with a certain satire for consolation that time passes, things change, and noting is forever… A gentle reminder tat everyday is a gift to celebrate.

ADAM AND EVE

Maša Kolar’s new ballet project „Adam and Eve“ offers a contemporary reading of Krleža’s dramatic work, which was first published exactly 100 years ago. Wishing to expand the theme of the fatal love fates of “Man and Woman”, Maša Kolar sets the action in the more contemporary ambience of the club dance scene. The search for utopia and the need for escapism is visible in two parallel worlds: one is the love couple, other is the collective community that no longer sees meaning in today’s everyday life. For this production, Kolar was also inspired by the carnivalesque motifs of Krleža’s dramatic opus (,) starting with the grotesque and exaggerated movements and eccentricities of the characters, through the carnivalized clothes, and all the way to today’s mental and social reality. In her dramatisation of both the ballet and its vocabulary, Kolar seeks to present a strong psychologization of the main characters to the dancing of a collective that seeks its ideal in the freedom and happiness of dancing and in the enjoyment of one’s own body.
