The audience gave a long round of applause to the ensemble and creative team of Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera "I Pagliacci," which premiered yesterday on the main stage of the Croatian National Theatre Split, conducted by maestro Ivo Lipanović and directed by Mario Kovač.
"I Pagliacci" succeeded on all levels – guided by an ingenious director and the firm hand of maestro Lipanović, who led the HNK Orchestra through rich harmonies and a sound that refuses to be a mere accompaniment," wrote Magdalena Mrčela after the premiere. At the same time, the audience enthusiastically applauded the ensemble and creative team.
The soloists, a talented and dedicated group, included Ivan Momirov as Canio, Antonija Teskera as Nedda, Grga Peroš as Tonio, Lovre Gujinović as Beppe, Marko Lasić as Silvio, and Joško Tranfić and Vlatko Belas as Villagers, with Miroslav Ljubičić in the role of the Priest.
The production's success is also a testament to the dedication and talent of the creative team. This team included set designer Davor Prah, costume designer Ana Mikulić, choreographer Branko Banković, choir conductor Veton Marevci, lighting designer Srđan Barbarić, sound designer Željko Mravak, 3D mapping creator Ivan Slipčević, director's assistant Bojan Brajčić, assistant costume designer Maja Peruzović, children's choir conductor Nela Bujas Trpković, concertmaster Valter Lovričević, répétiteur Stipe Iličić, stage manager Ana Šabašov, and prompter Irina Padovan.
