This is the opera with which the Split opera career of the Nestor of the Croatian theatre Georgij Paro began; and here it is now continuing on the occasion of restoring and adapting his 2003 set, which, as an hommage to her former professor, is signed by Jelena Bosančić. Although Paro as a director has left a legacy beyond comparison from Zagreb via Split to Dubrovnik, his Split performance was only his fourth opera production (after three operas directed in Zagreb), and the first open-air one.
