Jelena Pervan was born in Split in 1992. She writes and translates books for children and creates creative literary programs and workshops.
She founded the House of Stories, where she holds her author's program for creative writing for schoolchildren called Oops! I Fell into a Story, a storytelling program for preschoolers called Pričanac, and sensory storytelling sessions with children with developmental disabilities.
She fosters reading and love for stories through interactive literary gatherings with children, which she often holds in libraries, schools, kindergartens, and children's festivals throughout Croatia. She has been declared an ambassador of reading for the national reading campaign Read to Me for 2022.
Her picture books Mrljek and Prljek and Tonka Will Do It Tomorrow have been adapted into theatrical performances for children. The latter has also been made into a short animated film by Luma Film. The picture books about "Mrljek and Prljek" have been translated and published in multiple countries.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the Croatian Society of Writers for Children and Youth.
