Small Miracles

Sanja Milardović presents herself to the audience in this tragicomic monodrama as an author, director, and actress. It's a play with a highly layered narrative that fragmentedly follows the present and past of the writer Ana, combined with a surreal and absurd story built around Flora, the main character of her novel.

The monodrama is performed in Croatian without subtitles.

Small Miracles

So, this is a story about a woman in her thirties. Let's call her Ana.

Ana unexpectedly and abruptly lost a close person and then, by her own choice, completely isolated herself from the outside world and focused on the process of writing to survive. Ana has always felt deeply and fought (sometimes even for two). Still, since her previous life was interrupted, only one thing remains - finding a way to cope with the imposed reality and the dysfunctional world surrounding her. Her recovery gradually turns into an unpredictable and bizarre journey in which, while writing about Flora, she learns a great deal about herself.
In a one-hour journey between the rented apartment where Ana moved in seeking peace and Flora's world, which is based on absurd rules and questionable choices, the audience has the opportunity to discover whether it is harder to be a human or a whale, what wonders our everyday life is made of, the ideas we gain and lose every day, and how they can save our lives.

The project "Small Miracles" is a continuation of the platform for young authors within the artistic organization TeatruM and the production of authorial projects by female storytellers and authors.
