Irina Čaban Bilandžić

She was born in 1984 in Odessa, Ukraine. From the age of three, she has been involved in gymnastics and, from the age of five, in ballet. She attended the National Ballet School in her hometown from 1991 to 1998 and then the K. F. Dankevich Art and Culture Institute in Odessa from 1999 to 2003, earning the title of choreographer and lecturer in classical ballet. She performed in the National Odesa Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2003 and 2004, and afterward, she joined the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre. Until 2006, she toured with various Ukrainian ballet ensembles, presenting performances in France, Germany, Italy, Thailand, and more. She started working at the Croatian National Theatre in Split in 2006.

Awards and Recognitions

  • Croatian Theatre Award for the best artistic achievement in Ballet for the role of Medora in the performance Le Corsaire, set to the music of Adolphe Adam, choreographed by Aivars Leimanis, and performed by the Croatian National Theatre Split, 2019.

  • Ana Roje Award for the best artistic achievement in the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre Split in the seasons 2008/2009 and 2009/2010.
