Elvis Bošnjak is an actor, playwright, and screenwriter born in 1971 in Split. He has portrayed over a hundred theater, television, and film roles. He was a member of the Croatian National Theatre Drama ensemble in Rijeka and the Drama Department of the Croatian National Theatre Split. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the director of the Drama Department at CNT Split and the dramatic program of the Split Summer Festival. From 2008 to 2017, he was the artistic director of the PlayDrama Theatre in Split. In 2018, he returned to the CNT Split Drama ensemble.
Elvis Bošnjak has written twelve plays and, as a screenwriter, contributed to films like Father, Night Boats, and Sonja and the Bull. His plays have been translated into English, Spanish, German, Slovenian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Czech. His book The River Takes Us And Other Plays was published in 2011. He received numerous awards for his work, including the Vladimir Nazor Award from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia for the play The River Takes Us and the role of Jerko in the same play. He also received the Marul Award for three of his plays. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia awarded him the "Marin Držić" Award for the plays Wires and Razors and Anchored. His plays Father, Heart bigger than Hands and A Bed of Nails were nominated for the Croatian Society of Dramatic Artists Award. He also received the leading male acting award at the Days of Satire for roles in the plays God of Carnage and Method. Recognizing his contribution to Croatian culture, he was honored with the Order of Danica Hrvatska with the image of Marko Marulić.
