The Exit theatre production of Two is based on a text by Jim Cartwright, a British actor who has gained fame as a dramatist whose plays won a number of awards. His work has been translated into more than 35 languages. Two opens itself before the audience in a dynamic palette of short images and simple dialogues that deconstruct the characters and lives of the protagonists, actually presenting us seven complex relationships. Some are characterised by life in the past, others are petrified in the present, but in all of them there is a noticeable lack of communication with others and with oneself. Their masks and nicely decorated exteriors conceal misfortune or frustration. Director Matko Raguž sets the drama in a pub, a meeting place of different people who in this informal atmosphere reveal intimate details of their lives. Two, besides the classic question of the possibility of partnership, also questions the possibility of personal realisation in a way that we do not compromise our own authenticity.
