Eccentric Dr Coppélius, both feared and ridiculed by the village folks, creates a beautiful doll, so lifelike that young Franz completely loses his mind for her. Swanilda, his real-life love shows him his folly by dressing as the doll, confusing poor Franz who repeatedly falls in love with one and the other. Of course, all ends happily. After a day of games and misunderstands comes a night of happiness and joy. Swanilda and Franz finally made peace and unite in a merry wedding ceremony.
