Bernstein Dances

Set up as an homage to Leonard Bernstein, one of the greatest personalities in the world of music of 20th century this modern dance diptych united the artistic forces of Croatian National Ballets from Rijeka and Split.

Bernstein Dances

Choreographer Maša Kolar picked allegro movements of magnificent Beethoven's symphonies performed under the conducting baton of Leonard Bernstein as a great background for her abstract impression of Bernstein's identity, his conducting skills and dance dimensions of his work.

Igor Kirov's choreographic piece Letters for Him is based on the private letters of Leonard Bernstein, one of the 20th's century greatest composers and conductors. Bernstein’s letters tell much about this complex persona - his constant struggle between conventional and unconventional, his turbulent and complex sexuality, endless capacity for hard work, his humanity, warmth and wonderful eye for descriptive detail.
