Barbara Sumić, mezzo-soprano, was born in Split. In her youth, she was a member of the cultural and artistic association "Mozaik," where she sang and danced. After completing language high school and two years of study at the Faculty of Economics in Split (during which she passed the professional exam for a tourist guide), she began intensive work on her vocal technique. She auditioned as a chorister at the Croatian National Theatre (HNK) in Split.
Along with singing in the choir, she often performs solo roles in operas and operettas (such as Spli'ski akvarel, Simon Boccanegra, Suor Angelica, Manon Lescaut, Diocletian), and she made her debut in the role of Marica in Tijardović's operetta Mala Floramye (2005). She has distinguished herself in operas by Hatze (Adel and Mara, Vornić's Wife), Mascagni (Cavalleria rusticana, Lucia), Verdi (I Vespri Siciliani, Ninetta in La Traviata, Flora Bervoix), Bizet (Carmen, Mercedes), and Puccini (Madama Butterfly, Suzuki).
Barbara's international experience is a testament to her talent and dedication. She has participated in dramatic performances as both a singer and actress in productions like Hamlet and Crime and Punishment, and has held numerous solo concerts both in Croatia and abroad. In 2013, she graduated in solo singing from the Academy of Music in Split, under the tutelage of professors Nelli Manuilenko and Terezija Kusanović.
