Hailed as a Chopin-player beyond compare, Jurinić has chosen twelve Etudes, Op. 25 which are in the very heart of Chopin's magnificent piano oeuvre. The “Little” Piano Sonata in A minor by Schubert evokes early-romantic enchantment of countryside and nature. The manuscript was completed in Styria and this sonata is joyful and melodically straightforward. During three movements of transcendental virtuosity, as Ravel himself described the elements of his Gaspard de la nuit, a piano piece of the mythical status among the pianists, sea nymphs, goblins and some perhaps more sinister visions will emerge in front of us in a series of vertiginous pianist figures, evoked by Ravel who was inspired by the poetry of Aloysius Bertrand.
