In the year dedicated to musical greats Tijardović and Gotovac, as part of the 35th Marulić Days, two exceptional events will be held to bring the audience closer to the lesser-known aspects of the life and work of Ivo Tijardović.
Lecture: On Rabadan's Libretto of the Forgotten Tijardović Opera Marco Polo
A lecture by Marijana Komljenović Tijardović, artistic advisor at the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Vlatko Smiljanić from the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb. This lecture will introduce the audience to the libretto of the lesser-known opera Marco Polo, exploring its literary and musical value. We will uncover Tijardović’s unique vision of this forgotten artistic work and deepen our understanding of his creative legacy.
Concert: Song and Story: Tijardović’s Musical Heritage
The program continues with a concert featuring soprano Nika Kožar and pianist Marijana Komljenović, who will perform arias from the opera Marco Polo as well as from the popular operettas Little Floramy and The Aquarelle of Split.
