Class Concert / Scheherazade, choreographed by Denis Matvienko, premiered on the CNT Split stage on Thursday, March 27th.
The Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre Split premiered the ballet performance Class Concert / Scheherazade last night, conducted by maestro Mihail Sinkevič with the Orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre Split. This choreographic work was created by the new director of the Split Ballet, Denis Matvienko, who choreographed Class Concert, while Scheherazade was staged by choreographer's assistant Irina Prokofieva, following the classical choreography of Mikhail Fokine.
Irina Chaban Bilandžić (Zobeida) and Danyil Podhrushko (Golden Slave) played the lead roles in Scheherazade. Critics praised their performance, highlighting Chaban Bilandžić's emotional and physical expressiveness. Their dance together was described as passionate, filled with erotic tension and intimate connection, effectively conveying the exotic and mystical atmosphere of the story to the audience.
"Scheherazade burst with energy and passion. Lavish costumes, exotic dance, powerful body language, all seductively wrapped in Rimsky-Korsakov’s oriental melody," wrote the press following last night's premiere.
For those who missed the premiere, upcoming performances are scheduled for March 28th, 29th, and 31st and April 1st. Tickets are available at the Croatian National Theatre Split box office or online.
