The Return of Ksenija Prohaska as Marlene Dietrich to the Croatian National Theatre Split

The iconic play Marlene Dietrich will be performed once again at the Croatian National Theatre Split on December 20th, starting at 8:30 PM in the theatre foyer.

The music-drama performance Marlene Dietrich, which has captivated audiences worldwide, is returning to the stage in Split. Ksenija Prohaska will portray the German-American actress and singer in the Theatre Foyer on Friday, December 20th, 2024, starting at 8:30 PM.

This unique one-woman show by Ksenija Prohaska premiered 25 years ago, on December 18th, 1999, in the same foyer of the Croatian National Theatre in Split. Over the past quarter of a century, the performance has been staged more than 500 times in five languages (Croatian, English, Italian, Spanish, and Czech) across more than 20 countries on five continents. Highlights include performances on Broadway at the renowned La MaMa Theatre in New York, as well as in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and San Pedro (USA), and at numerous international festivals in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Venezuela, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy (Rome, Venice, Trieste, Gorizia, Pescara, Lecce, and Barletta).

Ksenija Prohaska brings to life the legendary actress Marlene Dietrich as a global star and a real woman facing complex life challenges. The performance delves into themes of her marriage, love, professional career, relationship with her daughter, and experiences during the war. Through 11 powerful monologues and 13 unforgettable songs, audiences are invited to immerse themselves in the world of this fascinating artist.

At the international festival Cividale del Friuli in Italy in 2005, Ksenija Prohaska won the Premio Adelaide Ristori award for Best Actress. Audiences worldwide have been captivated by the brilliance of her portrayal of the German diva, from Dietrich's early film career in Berlin to the end of her life in Paris, as evidenced by numerous national and international accolades.
