In the Ballet Studio of the Croatian National Theater Split, a significant international ballet audition and masterclass took place on February 13 and 14. Ninety dancers from around the world participated in the event. Organized by the Irish company Ballet Masterclass, young ballet artists had the opportunity to showcase their talents to directors from six renowned ballet theaters in Croatia, Ireland, Romania, Serbia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
The audition opens up possibilities for directors to enhance their ensembles with talented dancers. For the dancers themselves, such auditions provide a unique opportunity to compete for engagements in six European theaters.
The ballet masterclass was led by ballet pedagogue and former dancer Aleksandar Lukjanov. Dancers from countries ranging from Australia to the United States attended the audition. The artistic director of the Ballet of the Croatian National Theater Split, Pedro Carneiro, assessed their work, potential, and qualities. Additionally, evaluations were conducted by artistic directors from various theaters, including Elias Garcia Herrera from Ballet de Catalunya in Barcelona, Christopher Marney from London City Ballet, Ovidiu Dragoman from the Ballet Theater in Sibiu, Romania, Anne Maher from Ballet Ireland, and Toni Ranđelović, the director of the Ballet at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.
