"The Great Gatsby": The Return of Prima Ballerina Marta Petkova and Ballet Star Nikola Hadjitanev

Ballet stars Marta Petkova and Nikola Hadjitanev will again perform in the ballet "The Great Gatsby" by Leo Mujić, which will be staged this year at the Bena stage on August 12th and 13th.

Familiar to the Split audience, guests from Bulgaria, prima ballerina Marta Petkova and principal dancer of the Bulgarian National Opera and Ballet, Nikola Hadjitanev, will reprise their roles as Daisy and Tom Buchanan in this year's performances of the ballet "The Great Gatsby," choreographed and directed by Leo Mujić. Soloist from the National Ballet in Sofia, Frederico Pinto, will join the outstanding Bulgarian soloists on stage as the love-stricken Jay Gatsby.

Aaron Kok, former soloist of the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre Split and a favorite of the Split ballet audience, will perform as Nick Carraway. This role earned him the audience and critics' admiration during the premiere at the 68th Split Summer Festival.

Other performers include Eva Karpilovska, Matea Milas, Danil Podhrushko, Takafumi Tamagawa, Ajla Yusupzhanova, Ania Bartkowski, and Matteo Valente.

The guest from the Bulgarian capital, prima ballerina Marta Petkova, joined the Ballet and Opera ensemble in Sofia at the age of 16 and, over her long career, has danced all the major solo roles in classical ballets, with "Swan Lake" being her favorite. The Split audience already enjoyed her portrayal of Daisy Buchanan on the main stage of the Croatian National Theatre Split in February last year. Nikola Hadjitanev has been a soloist with the Sofia Opera and Ballet since 2006, becoming the principal dancer in 2012.

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Leo Mujić, who has successfully brought ballet stories based on great literary works to the theater stage in recent years, choreographed and directed The Great Gatsby for the 68th Split Summer Festival.

The beloved ballet returns to this year's stage on Bene (Marjan Park) on the 12th and 13th of August.
